Join us to explore the wonders of the world at Ashgrove. Let the stars and planets be your guide to recreate Stonehenge. Light your signal fires from the top of the Great Wall of China. Hike down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, then up to the snows of Kilimanjaro. Enjoy the fun of hand-cranked ice cream. Lift your voices in harmony as you sing from majestic cathedrals. Travel through time to the trade routes of Rome and test yourself on the challenge course. Practice archery, shoot slingshots, or throw tomahawks. Bring to life the people of the pyramids and craft your own engineering wonder. Pack up your imagination and sense of adventure; it’s time to travel. The Wonders of the World await you at Ashgrove!
Jacqueline “Chip” Wooldridge
Most of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned by being at Ashgrove Adventure. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there under the trees.
These are the things I learned:
Share everything with new leaders.
Play.
Don’t hit people, even if you really want to
Put things back where you found them, especially if it belongs to Rockin’ Robin.
Clean up your own mess, or Core Staff has to.
Don’t take things that aren’t yours, unless it’s a really good idea.
Say you’re sorry when you show up late to flag.
Use the hand wash before you eat.
You don’t need to flush at Crowell.
Sack lunches are good for you.
Program plans a balanced program – learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon, just wait until you get home to do so.
When you go from center to center hold hands, stay with your buddy, and stick
together.
Stop every once and awhile and just enjoy all the laughter and singing around you.
Be aware of wonder for it is abundant at Ashgrove.
